Gabe's Original and Mama's Mediterranean Spices are ideal as a dip for raw vegetables, chips, pita bread or as a sandwich spread!

Ingredients

  • Dry spice packet of Gabe's Original or Mama's Mediterranean Spices
  • 1 pint sour cream, plain yogurt or cottage cheese. Or one brick/container of spreadable plain cream cheese softened (4-8 ounces)
  • Raw vegetables of your choice (carrots, celery, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans, pea pods, snap peas, green onions, artichoke hearts, zucchini, asparagus, olives, broccoli, cauliflower, pickled beans, radishes, whole mushrooms and jicama)
  • Pita bread, soft bread, crackers of your choice
  • Mint, basil or parsley

Instructions

  1. Stir 2 teaspoons of Mama's Mediterranean dry spice blend or 3 tablespoons Gabe's Original Dressing & Marinade dry spice blend into one pint of sour cream, plain yogurt or cottage cheese to make a creamy dip. You can use both spices for a more amazingly delicious dip!
  2. You can substitute 1/4 cup of liquid Gabe's Original or Mama's Mediterranean dressing into one pint of the desired base ingredient (sour cream, plain yogurt or cottage cheese)
  3. Stir fully to mix all the blended spices with the base ingredient (about 30-60 seconds). Add less dressing for firmer dip or add more dressing for creamier dip
  4. Taste for desired full flavor and add more of dry or liquid spice mix.
  5. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving
  6. Transfer to desired serving bowl and enjoy with raw veggies or bread as described above
  7. Garnish with mint, basil, parsley or other carved vegetable (radish, tomato, etc.)

Tips

Mama's has a spicy kick. Stir thoroughly to blend all spices before adding to base ingredient of sour cream, plain yogurt or cottage cheese. Add more dry or liquid dressing for a spicier dip if desired.

Decide ahead of time what flavors of oil and vinegar you want to blend with Gabe's Original Dressing & Marinade or Mama's Mediterranean Spices to create the dressing and marinade. Factor in what you are serving. The taste will vary: savory, tangy or sweet depending on the oil and vinegar combination used.

Have fun by mixing different oils and vinegars in the same mix along with the pure lemon juice. Read directions on each spice packet for proper proportions of each ingredient.

Keep eating boldly and deliciously with more than 50 Years of Gabe's Gourmet Goodness in every bite!
